The emergence of the Middle East and the GCC has led to a paradigm shift and new opportunities in the region. Never before has entrepreneurship and private sector development held the center stage as it does today.

There is a need for a change in thought, and a change in action. The economic, social and political make-up of the region calls for a an understanding of the complex dynamics which shape the entrepreneurial ecology. Collaborative thinking among all actors in this change process is essential for future.

The lessons applied to the West are not applicable to the Middle East. The region is not hegemonous; it is culturally and historically rich and diversified.

We need to ask the right questions to provide the right answers.

We need to gain an in-depth understanding to provide unique recommendations.

There is a window of opportunity to take part in this new entrepreneurial ecology; and a need for the next generation of entrepreneurs, leaders and thinkers to work towards a common goal to foster a sustainable economic future and a knowledge-based economy in the region.
